Toronto Airport has the official airport code of YYZ, and is also known as the Lester B. Pearson International Airport, in honour of the late Canadian Prime Minister, Lester Bowles Pearson. It is also referred to as just the Pearson Airport. Toronto Airport is the largest airport in Canada, and is located 22.5km, or 14 miles northwest of Downtown Toronto. It serves the Golden Horseshoe area that is home to 25% of Canada’s population. For transport, arriving passengers can rent a car from one of the Toronto Pearson Airport car hire companies, such as Enterprise. Enterprise has offices in Canada, the UK, Ireland and Germany, and is a popular choice for car rental services.
Toronto Airport has some of the largest passenger terminals in the world, which collectively serve over thirty million passengers every year. They are named Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and are both equipped for domestic and international flights. Where passengers arrive will depend on the airline company with which they are flying. Many of the Star Alliance airline carriers operate from Terminal 1, and Oneworld and SkyTeam airline carriers are found at Terminal 3. Enterprise Toronto Pearson Airport have rental counters nearby to the arrival areas of the terminals. Simply follow the signs for ‘Car Rental’ from the baggage reclaim area. Their offices at Toronto Airport are open from 06:00 to midnight, Monday to Sunday. However, their hours on bank holidays may vary.
Since that Toronto Airport is such a busy location, all cars rented are recommended to be hired in advance. Online is the easiest way to secure the ideal car for your holiday or business trip, and cheaper rental rates are often available online as well. Equipment for the vehicle such as child seats, satellite navigation systems and luggage racks should be requested at the time of reservation, as they may not be available upon your arrival at the airport. Items such as these are hired on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis, and their availability cannot be guaranteed unless a reservation has been made. Enterprise hand controls for disabled drivers will also require an advanced booking, as they are only used on certain types of automatic vehicles. They will also need to be fitted prior to your arrival, therefore contact Enterprise at least forty-eight hours before the time of vehicle collection.
The majority of the vehicles hired by the Toronto Pearson Airport car rental companies have an automatic transmission and come with unlimited mileage. Smaller cars may be considered as ideal for city driving, but a larger car could be more comfortable for longer journeys, and for larger groups of passengers and their luggage items. Luxury cars, or Premium models, are often requested by business travellers who require something a little more elegant than an ordinary rented car. Enterprise has vehicles to suit the needs of all their customers, and have small and large car varieties available. The Suzuki Swift is an example of a car in the Economy category and the Nissan Versa is a Compact vehicle. Both cars come with low rental rates, are easy to drive and fuel efficient too. Family-sized cars are found in the Intermediate, Standard and Fullsize categories, and may be similar to the Dodge Caliber, Ford Focus, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Impala and Nissan Altima.
Many passengers arriving at Toronto Airport require an SUV for their journey in Canada, and Enterprise has a large range of these types of vehicles. Different sizes of SUVs are available, and they seat between five and seven people. The Ford Escape and Jeep Liberty are Intermediate SUVs, the Ford Explorer and Chevy Trailblazer are Standard SUVs, the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade are Luxury SUVs and the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition are Large SUVs. Minivans can seat seven or more passengers as well, and include the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan. Most vehicles hired by Enterprise have air conditioning, AM/FM CD players and power windows and locks, while some even have tilt/cruise control, power mirrors, advanced driver and passenger airbags and leather upholstery.
Cars hired by Enterprise can either be returned to the rental location of Toronto Airport, or returned to a different location, and are then referred to as an Enterprise one way hire. Passengers who are not leaving from the same airport should arrange one way hire services, and select a more convenient drop-off location. From Toronto Airport, one way hires may be driven to all areas of Canada, and may even be allowed to cross the border, into the United States of America. This may be referred to as a cross-border rental. Keep in mind that a vehicle which is to be returned to a different location may incur additional charges.
To rent a car from Enterprise, and from Toronto Pearson Airport, the primary renter will need to be at least 21 years of age, and should be in possession of a valid drivers license that may need to be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. A major credit card such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club will be required for payment of the rental contract. Although 21 is the minimum age to rent a car at this airport location, drivers younger than 25 will pay higher rental rates for young drivers insurance, and may not be permitted to hire certain larger or specialty cars. The same is the case at all major car hire companies in most countries of the world. Find out from Enterprise if there will be any further documents required for your rental.
At Toronto Pearson Airport, Enterprise can provide assistance with all car rental enquiries.
