Enterprise Winnipeg Airport
Winnipeg International Airport is one of the larger airports in the country of Canada, and is located nearby to the city centre of Winnipeg. It is an airport found in the Manitoba province of the country, and handles around 3.39 million passengers per annum. The airport is known officially as the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, and by the IATA code of YWG. The car hire companies of the airport include Enterprise, a well known provider of car rental services. By rented car is one of the best ways to explore the wonderful area of Manitoba, and to travel the city of Winnipeg.
There is a single terminal building at Winnipeg Airport that is newly constructed in order to provide efficient service. The new terminal was opened at the end of October 2011, and is where the majority of airport passengers arrive. However, passengers on flights by Perimeter Aviation or Kivallig Air may arrive at one of the other two smaller terminal buildings on the airport grounds. These terminals are located approximately a kilometre or two from the main building. Once passengers have arrived, they can collect their baggage and go to the parkade building in order to find car hire desks, which are found on the main level. Enterprise can be found here along with Hertz, Avis, National and Budget. The rental counters of Enterprise are open on weekdays from 07:00 to 23:59. On weekends vehicles can be collected from 08:00 up until 20:30 on Saturdays and 23:59 on Sundays.
Enterprise is a well known car rental company in the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. They have many years of experience in the industry, and a large number of rental locations from which to choose. Although the company provides ideal cars and services for leisure travellers, they offer comprehensive business rental programs as well. Members of the program will receive special pricing on every rental, and have the choice of an exclusive range of newer car makes and models. Customers are also able to rent their vehicle for longer periods of time with the Month-Or-More Rental Plan. Long-term rentals are offered with short-term rental flexibility and twenty-four hour emergency roadside assistance. Enterprise can also offer customized packages for when a number of vehicles are required by persons at several locations.
In Canada, and at the Enterprise Winnipeg International Airport location, the primary renter of a vehicle should be at least 21 years of age. However, persons younger than 25 may not be able to hire vehicles from all categories, and may be charged higher rental rates for young driver insurance. This additional fee is applicable to each young driver registered on the rental agreement and per day of car hire. All persons who will be driving a rented car will need to be present at the rental counters, and will need to show their valid driving licenses. Those issued in Canada (besides G1 and G2 licenses) and the United States are accepted. Persons from foreign countries may require an International Driving Permit (IDP), and/or further documents to verify return to their home country. A major credit card will also be needed for car hire, and cards accepted include American Express, Diner’s Club Int’l, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, GE Capital and Peterson, Heather and Howell (PHH).
When a car is hired online, customers may specify whether it will be returned to a different rental location or whether it will be returned at the airport. One way hires are when the vehicle will not be returning to its pickup location, and are sometimes a convenient service, even though there may be extra charges involved. Enterprise one way hires may usually be driven to all parts of Manitoba, and into other Canadian provinces as well, but a cross-border rental will need to be arranged for travel into the United States. Hire cars are often permitted to cross the border, however, they may not be driven into Alaska or Mexico. Always return your vehicle in the same condition as it was rented (and reasonably clean), as well as on time, regardless of the return location chosen. Late returns will incur additional costs.
Vehicles from car rental companies are similar to the Suzuki Swift, Nissan Versa, Dodge Caliber and Ford Focus, and have automatic transmissions. These cars have two or four doors and come with affordable rental rates. However, sometimes a larger car is required, especially by persons who have more luggage, and then a car from the Standard, Fullsize, Premium, Luxury, Minivan or SUV categories is chosen. The Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Impala, Nissan Altima, Buick Allure and Chrysler 300 are all sedan models seating five passengers, while the Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, Ford Explorer, Chevy Trailblazer, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition are examples of available SUVs. Larger SUVs seat seven, and Minivans such as the Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan are ideal for seven passengers as well.
The airport of Winnipeg is adapted for the needs of disabled travellers with pavement ramps, elevators and suitable restrooms. There are also services available at the car hire companies, such as the rental of hand controls. Enterprise hand controls are free of charge, and are used by persons with a lower limb disability. They should be reserved in advance as they can be fitted to only certain types of automatic vehicles available from Winnipeg Airport. Hand controls operate the brake and accelerator pedals, but no other vehicle functions.
