Ottawa International Airport is found in the Riverside South area of Ottawa, and is an important airport of the province of Ontario. It is the sixth largest Canadian airport, with over four million passengers per annum, and is served by a wide range of airline carriers. The airport is known as the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, and by the code of YOW. Its facilities include car hire companies, such as Enterprise Ottawa International Airport. Enterprise is an excellent choice of car rental company for leisure or business purposes, and is able to provide some of the most competitive airport car hire rates.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is found in the airport Parkade building, just across the street from the passenger terminal. All airport facilities are within easy walking distance of one another, including the car hire companies. Enterprise is open seven days a week, from 06:30 to 23:59 on weekdays, and from 07:00 to 23:59 on Saturdays and Sundays. A reservation in advance is best in order to ensure the ideal car for your holiday or business trip, and online reservations are considered easiest. An early reservation is also recommended if you require child seats or a satellite navigation system for your vehicle, or if Enterprise hand controls for a disabled driver is required. Hand control equipment is only available for a select few vehicles, and will need to be fitted prior to your arrival at Ottawa International Airport. Hand controls are a device that operate the brake and accelerator pedals of an automatic vehicle, and may include a steering wheel knob for additional driving assistance.
To rent a car from one of the Ottawa International Airport car hire companies, the primary renter will be required to have a valid drivers license and major credit card. He/she will also need to be 21 years of age or older. The usual age requirement for driving a rented car is 25, however, younger drivers are permitted provided that young drivers insurance is added to their rentals. This is an amount of up to $35.00 CAD per day of car hire, and per young driver registered on the rental contract. It could be applicable up to a maximum number of rental days. The majority of major credit cards are accepted for payments by Canadian car rental companies, and they will be required at the start of the rental period. Cash or a debit card may be acceptable for payments once the vehicle is safely returned.
The rented cars of Enterprise, in Canada and at Ottawa Airport, are arranged into vehicle categories, for example, Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard, Fullsize, Luxury, Minivan, SUV and Pickup Truck. Each category has a selection of similar sized vehicles, and cars with similar characteristics. The various cars in each category will also be of the same price. Passengers looking for cheaper car rental rates will find Economy and Compact cars to be the best option, and they are similar to the Suzuki Swift and Nissan Versa. Intermediate cars are also quite inexpensively priced, and may include the Dodge Caliber and Ford Focus. Additional cars hired by Enterprise, and which are larger, include the Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Impala and the Nissan Altima.
Vehicles with a higher price tag are found in the Luxury and Premium categories, and SUVs and Minivans could be more pricy as well. However, a larger car is sometimes well worth the extra few dollars spent, and will provide a comfortable journey. Minivans from Enterprise include the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan, while SUVs for five passengers include the Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, Ford Explorer and Chevy Trailblazer. Larger SUVs include the Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition. Many of the SUVs from Enterprise have air conditioning, automatic transmissions, cruise control and power locks.
Unless an Enterprise one way hire is arranged, hired cars should be returned to the same parking lot at Ottawa Airport, either with a full tank of fuel or with an ‘empty as possible’ tank of fuel. If fuel was purchased at the beginning of the rental period, the car may be returned empty, but if no fuel was purchased, the customer should return the car full. Enterprise may also be able to re-fuel the vehicle on behalf of the customer, but extra charges could be applicable for the service. From Ottawa International Airport, one way hire services are convenient for passengers going ‘one way’, and who will not be returning. Cars can generally be driving to all cities in Canada, but if they are to be driven to the United States, a cross-border rental will need to be arranged. Cross-border rentals are permitted by some car hire companies, but not by others.
The Ottawa International Airport car rental companies provide passengers with a private and reliable means of transport, which is often considered to be more convenient than bus, train or taxi options. The city of Ottawa can easily be reached from the airport by using Bronson Avenue, Walkley Road, Hunt Club Road or Bank Street. The main highway of the city is the Queensway-Trans-Canada Highway 417, with a link to the Highway 416, heading south towards Ogdensburg. Passengers in a rented car can easily travel to further cities as well, such as Montreal and Toronto. Drive on the right-hand side of the road in Canada, and follow the speed limits of 50kph in urban areas, 100kph on open roads and 130kph on motorways and highways.
